Our story
Hi, I’m Mark and I’m the founder and principal of Active Care & Accommodation.
I was first involved in the disability sector about 30 years ago when a family member living with disability needed support to have a better quality of life. I remember back then - well before the days of the NDIS - that I felt it was a real privilege to care for someone whose life presented significant challenges.
I’ve always been interested in helping people, understanding how they tick and what makes for a happy and harmonious life. That passion led me to the caring industry with a particular interest in Psychology. I went on to complete a psychology degree with honours, and still enjoy challenging myself with ongoing education.
I established Active Care & Accommodation in 2016, with a vision to provide superior care and accommodation for people with disability in the Newcastle/Hunter Region of New South Wales.
I am now able to offer accommodation and care on Lagoon Lodge, a property that I am very proud to call home. I am happy to welcome participants funded for NDIS accommodation to also call this place home .
Our goal
To deliver better Home and Living support for people in the Newcastle/Hunter region.
Superior SIL, STA (respite) and MTA by professional people who operate with integrity and have a passion for helping people thrive.
Modern homes that the people of our region deserve: housing with great facilities on 33 acres with Lagoon.
A home that people will be proud to call their own for many years.
Quality personal care and individual attention so that people living with disability achieve their goals, build independence and live a life with deep community connections.
Greater choice and more control. Spend more time doing things you enjoy. Forget trips to the shops being your only recreation, with ACA we tailor activities and recreation taking advantage of the natural beauty of our property. Fishing, camping, boating, picnics, you name it, we do it all on our stunning property.
Achieve your goals. Develop your capacity. Build independence. Participate fully in the community alongside respectful professionals who truly care about you.
We’re here for good.
